Grasslands Defined

Grasslands are areas where the dominant vegetation is grass.  Most native grasslands contain perennial grasses – plants that die back in autumn and winter but regrow from rootstock in spring and summer. Many native grasslands have living plants from early spring to late autumn. This allows them to use sunlight, and soil and water resources throughout the entire growing season, providing many benefits to humans and wildlife in return.
